Minimally Invasive Direct Coronary Artery Bypass (MIDCAB) retractor

Minimally invasive direct coronary artery bypass (MIDCAB) with the GEISTER® Thoragate™ system requires a substantially smaller incision than conventional coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG).

A leftside minithoracotomy is being performed, then the left internal mammary artery (IMA) harvested under direct vision, and an anastomosis being performed between IMA and LAD under direct vision, using a mechanical GEISTER® stabilizer system, fixed by a t-bar or a flexible arm either on the ThoraGate™ itself, or – after changing the retractor in situ – on a small mini-thoracotomy retractor, for local mechanical immobilization.
